LA goes Agora

Twice a year more than 500 AEGEE members gather at the Agora, the general assembly of Europe’s students forum. Only AEGEE members? Not really! Each time between 10 and 30 Les Anciens members are present, too, enjoying a look how AEGEE is living, breathing, changing. Whenever there are enough interested Les Anciens members, we are organising our own framework event, called “LA goes Agora”. In the past, LA went for example to the Agoras in Aachen, Kiev and Istanbul.

The last Agora took place in Macedonia from 27th to 30th of October 2011, organised by AEGEE-Skopje. “The took place in Struga at Ohrid Lake,” says Simona Dimovska, President of AEGEE-Skopje. This is already the second Agora in Skopje, after the spring Agora in 2004, which also took place at Ohrid Lake. Since a lot of Les Anciens members were there or at the Planning Meeting or at one of the great Summer Universities of the antennae, there was a “Les Anciens goes Agora Skopje” with about 15 oldies present.

Let’s meet in Enschede

The next Agora will place in Enschede, The Netherlands, from 2nd to 6th of May 2012, organised by AEGEE-Enschede. This is the third Agora in Enschede, the previous ones took place in 1997 and 2005. This time we will make the “Les Anciens goes Agora” event bigger than in the past years, since we have many oldies from Enschede among our members. We expect a big interest also from other Les Anciens members – altogether around 50 people. AEGEE-Enschede already gave us ideas about hotels for accommodation. Therefore we are planning a full weekend programme around the Agora.
