Great visit to the beer museum What is Belgium famous for? Good food. From 23 to 25 March 2012, 60 Les Anciens members enjoyed a lot of good fries, beer, one of the best brunches ever and a great barbecue in the AEGEE-Europe headoffice. Michiel van Hees just got one step closer to his plan to have 25 grandchildren. Now the burden is not anymore on his daughter Eline. On Friday, 9th of March, his wife Janina (néé Victor) – like Michiel a former Les Anciens board member – gave birth to Caspar Alexander. “We’re very lucky with Eline and Caspar. Dear readers, one year ago, in January 2011, I created the Golden Oldie. This new online magazine had and still has the main purpose to report about news, people and events of AEGEE’s alumni association Les Anciens. However, within a couple of weeks only, the Golden Olden became very popular also among AEGEE members, especially since this online magazine had also a section about current AEGEE affairs. Rissana Shytu AEGEE and Les Anciens members have a close relationship with hostels. They slept in countless of them. However, Les Anciens and AEGEE members as hostel owners – that’s something new. It happened just a few weeks ago in Kyiv: Rissana Shytu, Tim Joris “TJ” Kaiser and Philip Knuppel opened “The Hub” in the Ukrainian capital. The Foundation AEGEE Trust Fund (FATF) has a new board since 1st of January 2012. Nico Huurman is the newly elected Chairman, Sandra Geldmacher the new Secretary General. The deadline for applications for the European Boards’ Meeting (EBM) comes closer – you can only apply until 14th of December.
