Every year a group of Les Anciens members goes sailing. The tradition started in 2004, after the General Assembly in Athens, when a group around Jos Eikhout, Dirk Berndsen and Stefan Recksiegel rented a boat and discovered many beautiful places near the Greek shores. Since then the annual sailing trip is a fixed part of the Calendar of Events of Les Anciens. Usually the trip takes places in the Mediterranean Sea in late summer or early autumn. On 19th of August 2011, the sailing trip had a special highlight: Jos Eikhout went on his knees asked his girlfriend, Les Anciens member Lia Potec, to marry her on board of the boat “Free Spirit”. Lia said Yes. “Our marriage will take place in 2012,” Jos said.
The date and place of the next edition of the sailing trip have not been set yet.
